Bethesda says Good bye to Skyrim.

Bethesda the studio behind the excellent game Skyrim are waving good bye to it, which means … no more Skyrim DLC.

No more DLC WTF?!

Yeah it seems that Bethesda have come out and said that no more Skyrim DLC will be released.  Its strange as usually a game as big as Skyrim gets 4 expansions, yet we only got two (three if you count Hearthfire).  An article on Eurogamer and forum posts seem to confirm this as true.   Pete Hines even tweeted it out which again adds more confirmation to this story.

Shame really as I was looking forward to another Skyrim DLC pack. They probably planned to release another DLC but thanks to the issues they had with the PS3 DLC it probably set them back too much, and decided it was better to simply not bother any more.

Its at times like this that I wish I had a powerful gaming PC because I could run Skyrim with mods, however I have no choice but to play on console.

According to the Bethesda blog, they have indeed stated that they are still working on Minor updates to Skyrim which means that currently the title is still supported. http://www.bethblog.com/2013/04/15/moving-to-our-next-adventure/

Fallout 4?

While this is purely speculation at best it’s not out of the question.  However Bethesda are also working on The Elder Scrolls online too.  If Fallout 4 is in the works then it will probably be a next gen title or a cross generation title.  However this would mean that Fallout 4 would be amazing in terms of its graphical fidelity.    Bethesda have yet to confirm this, so anything you see on the web regarding Fallout 4 is pure rumor and speculation at best.

Thoughts

While I am somewhat annoyed that we’re not seeing any more Skyrim DLC.  I do understand why they’re moving on, they do have other projects to work on. Hopefully one of these projects is Fallout 4 or Fallout New Vegas 2, but we’ve yet to see anything.  I do know for a fact that they are currently working on developing The Elder Scrolls online, considering that this is Bethesda’s first MMO, I wouldn’t be surprised if they chose to concentrate on that rather than Fallout 4. I also wouldn’t be surprised if it was full of bugs and other issues.

What are your thoughts on this? Let me know in the comments below.

      1. I haven’t played the game yet. Been waiting for the GOTY edition. I’ve heard about the crashes, but they can’t be any worse than Fallout New Vegas. Are they?

      2. Yeah they are. At lease with New Vegas they were randomised, and hardly ever occured. With Skyrim now, every 2 hours a straight up freeze since the 1.9 update. Before that Skyrim for me was pretty much crash free.
